Melrose a Finalists in Prestigious Memphis Building Competition

MEMPHIS, February 5, 2020 – The Memphis Business Journal has named the Melrose a finalist in its prestigious annual Building Memphis competition.

The finalists were selected based on “professional excellence in the areas of architecture, design, engineering, development and construction, and projects that have created a community impact in the areas of investment, jobs created and potential impact on a surrounding neighborhood.” There are a total of four finalists in the category of Best Renovation.

Renovated in a contemporary and mid-century modern style the Melrose features large apartments, granite countertops, huge kitchens, stainless appliances, French doors, tile floors, and marble bathrooms.

Located at 775 Melrose Street, the Melrose is in the historical Central Gardens neighborhood on the southern part of Midtown. It is less than one block from stately early-1900s mansions and the University Club of Memphis.

On January 17, 2020, the Melrose also won the coveted Diamond Achievement Award for Best Mid/High-Rise Apartment Community in Memphis. That award is issued by the Greater Memphis Apartment Association. The Melrose also won the 2019 Memphis Most prize in September for Best Apartment Community in Memphis. The Memphis Most prize is awarded by the Commercial Appeal, Memphis’ largest newspaper.

“We are very proud of the Business Journal nomination and making it to the final round. It was a very long journey to get here,” said Janice Garrett, the Melrose’s property manager.

“This was one of the most exciting development project we’ve ever undertaken,” said Chris Robbins, Talus president. “Over 200 companies and nearly 1,000 men and women made this project happen, and we cannot thank the Business Journal enough for recognizing our hard work.”

Robbins said that the project is a snapshot of the Memphis economy: “We have tenants from FedEx, St. Jude’s, AutoZone, Methodist, Kellogg’s, International Paper, Valero and so many other pillars of the community. We are proud to be part of the revitalized and vibrant Memphis economy.”

The winner of the Building Memphis award will be announced February 13, 2020 at the Memphis Botanical Gardens.
