MEMPHIS, January 17, 2020 – The Melrose has won Memphis’ most sought-after award in the apartment industry.
A panel of architects, property developers, and property managers has declared the Melrose the Best Mid-Rise/High-Rise Apartment Community in Memphis and the Memphis suburbs. The award is issued annually by the Apartment Association of Greater Memphis. Renovated in a contemporary and mid-century modern style, the Melrose features large apartments, granite countertops, huge kitchens, stainless appliances, French doors, tile floors, and marble bathrooms.
Located at 775 Melrose Street, the Melrose is centrally-located, walking distance to the Medical District and the universities, and a short drive to most employers in the city. It is in the historical Central Gardens neighborhood surrounded on most sides by stately early-1900s mansions and the University Club of Memphis.
“We are so excited and proud,” said Janice Garrett, the Melrose’s property manager. “It was a very long journey to get here.”
The Melrose’s amenities include a full-size workout facility, a half-acre private dog park, underground covered parking, washer-dryers in apartments, electronic access and wrought iron gated security, a full-size swimming pool, free bicycle storage, and an outdoor BBQ facility.
“This was one of the most exciting development project we’ve ever undertaken,” said Chris Robbins, Talus Properties’ president.
Robbins said that the project is a snapshot of the Memphis economy: “We have tenants from The Medical District, FedEx, St. Jude’s, AutoZone, Methodist, Kellogg’s, International Paper, Valero and so many other pillars of the community. We are proud to be part of the revitalized and vibrant Memphis economy,” said Robbins.
Robbins said that the award is not the end of the story, but only the beginning. “Now we have a standard to uphold.” Robbins said that while major renovation is complete, his team is still working to complete a long list of priorities.
The Melrose also won the Commercial Appeal newspaper’s Memphis Most award for best apartment community in September of 2019.
